How can You Believe in God When your Receiver is Broken

 Many people struggle with the question of knowing whether there is a God. The problem is believing does not come naturally but unnaturally, because we are all born with spiritual receivers which are broken; what I mean is, when we are born, our spirits are dead so we cannot discern God's Spirit; God is Spirit and he communicates to us through our spirit, but if our spirits are born dead, there is a blockage and we can neither feel him nor hear his voice; that's the reason there are so many atheists and even agnostics in this world saying it's impossible to know God - because they are trying to grasp someone who is too big to grasp, by their mere intellect and physical mind. The problem is they lack the spiritual antenna to discern God's signal, or rather, just like E.T. in the movie of his own name, they cannot phone home because their equipment is broken.

 First, our spiritual receiver is broken and needs to be healed; in other words, before communication can be restored, our spiritual receiver has to be repaired by our Maker. 

 God is Spirit, and so before we can discern the spiritual dimension, we first need to have our dead spirit restored - which is the medium through which he communicates.

 The problem is our spiritual ears are deaf - our spirit is born dead so spiritually we are dead, and it means the eyes of our heart are blind, and need to be opened to the reality of God.
Before we can believe in God, we first need to have our spiritual receiver repaired by God. But what does that mean? It means asking God to repair it, that only he can do.

This can only be done by God's Spirit coming into my heart and repairing my dead spirit; this is important because everyone born in this world is born with their spirit dead, which is actually the root cause of all problems because when we have no awareness of the reality of God's Spirit, and spiritual grace, this leaves us vulnerable to the weaknesses of our own sinful and selfish nature. Without a mind of God we have no spiritual dimension and we are blind to knowing God.


 Therefore, we need a new spiritual birth - which is what is called, "being born again". This occurs in our spirit coming alive after being dead, or laying dormant for so many years, and will come alive when we first eat humble pie - meaning humbling ourselves before God, and then, asking him to come into our hearts and make our dead spirit born again.

Then our spiritual eyes and ears - namely our spirit which interacts with God and he with us can be opened. That's why Jesus said, 

"Truly, no one can see the Kingdom of God unless he is born born again." (in the book of John 3:3) and also, Jesus said, "You must be born again." (John 3:7b)


 We need to acknowledge we can't do that in our own strength but need God's power and powerful love to penetrate our heart and perform that delicate operation, which to him is easy because he made us and knows every fibre in us.We need to then acknowledge that Jesus died for my sin - even if I was the only person living on this earth he would have still come and died for me, personally, to take my punishment for all the sins I had done, in thought, in word and in deeds. So I had to repent and  'turn over a new leaf' by letting his blood on the cross flow to me and bring healing to every part of me, by faith.

 So, that's why we need to wait until we are willing to give God our life, and give him room in our hearts by inviting his Spirit and powerful love to come into our hearts. 

 When I did that in my own life, a huge weight lifted from  my shoulders. Suddenly, I felt this joy and peace surge up from my spirit - and God was healing every part of me.

 And I really did feel like a brand new baby - like a butterfly born again from an ugly caterpillar, and every  thing felt so clean, fresh and new - and most of all I felt so clean and fresh.

 When this happens it will suddenly be natural to love God, to believe in God, to worship God because we will have the spiritual equipment to do that. It is like being born a totally new and fresh person - when I gave my life to Jesus, I repented of living my life apart from God. Also, because God is a perfect being without sin, I needed to place at the cross all my failures and mistakes. 

 When Jesus died on the cross, he took our sin, our sickness, our pain, and all our afflictions; and if we believe this and give him these negatives of our life, he gives us the most amazing peace and healing. 

 That's why we need the Holy Spirit of God to penetrate our deepest being and bring to life our dormant spirit.

 That means inviting God, or Jesus, or the Holy Spirit to come into your heart so the eyes of your spirit can be opened, and so you will begin to feel God's most wonderful and sweetest peace, pysically in your spirit.

 If you want that for yourself, then it starts with a simple prayer -even if you think or feel you don't have the faith to believe - it doesn't matter about that, because, if you ask him, he will give you the faith you need. This is called the gift of faith for believing.

 If you are ready, as long as you are sincerely seeking God, then please pray the following prayer:
"God, I heard you are alive, that you love me more than anyone, and that you are powerful enough to come into my heart. So that's what I do - I ask you to come into my heart to stay and heal my spirit , called 'being born again', just as you said, 'No one can see the Kingdom of God, unless they are born again.' So, please make me born again and fill my spirit with your love, peace, comfort and joy, so you can replace all my selfish ways, all my pain, all my guilt with your peace and healing. 

I believe that you came to this earth two thousand years ago, and died on that cross to take away all my guilt, my pain, my sickness and my sin. I receive your foregiveness and peace, now, in your precious and powerful name. Thank you, that you have promised to adopt me now as your own precious child. Amen."

Congratulations! You are a new creation. Your spirit has been born again - it doesn't matter if you don't feel anything, just claim it by faith and keep believing, and thein time, the feeling will follow, because God always honours and rewards our faith.

 Christianity is the most practical of all religions because its believers do not just believe in the words of a ‘old, holy book’ reputedly written by its God, or a prophet of God, but actually can experience his power in their lives - the power of his love which promises to give them an indescribable peace whenever they are faced with what seems like a hopeless situation.

If you have studied the claims of Christianity you will find out that God’s plan or blueprint for your life is the greatest experience and transformation of our lives: from weakness to strength, from hopelessness to the greatest hope, comfort, peace and joy.

You may believe this or may not, however, please let me give you a word of caution: the nature of this religion called Christianity is, that God and Christ reveal themselves supernaturally by performing a miracle in man's heart, to him or her who invites God's Spirit into their life and emotions - who ask him to show his power to them in their heart, in their spirit; that's important because the Bible clearly states that the man without the Spirit of God cannot know God; this is because only when we have received God's Spirit, can we know and discern God and his ways - without which we are spiritually illiterate.

The fact is, the reason why there are so many broken people in this world is because their spirits are broken, their spiritual antenna which normally communicates with God is broken so they lack the equipment for phoning home, just like E. T., the alien in the movie of the same name; because everyone is born into this world with a dead spirit - their spiritual eyes are blind, that part of them must be restored first for them to suddenly shout, "I UNDERSTAND, I BELIEVE!" Thus, the Spirit of God must come and breathe to life the Spirit that is dead, and revive it.


In the Bible book of 1 Corinthians 2:14, it says,"The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him and he cannot understand them for they are spiritually discerned." 

 That's the reason the atheist is content to stay atheist, because he will never understand until his sight is corrected and gets a new perspective and a corrected vision; or in other words, until his faulty receiver is repaired; until he asks God to come into his heart and repair his faulty reveiver -that part of him called his spirit which communicates with God. And then God shows himself to him by opening his spiritual eyes to spiritual reality; until then, you have more hope in persuading a man who is colour blind to understand what the colour red looks like, when he's never seen red and never experienced the colour of red.  

That's why the Bible can be difficult to understand, especially for the atheist because the Bible tells us that the only way you can understand spiritual matters is if you first receive the Spirit of God, for the words and spiritual teaching of the Bible can only be received by the man or woman who has the Spirit of God, for they are spiritually discerned; in other words, the truth in the Bible can only be understood by the one who has the Spirit of God.
